From Airlie Beach to Rainbow Beach

In the picture below it is shown where we ended up last night! We came back from our sailing trip and drove on until we recognised that our fuel is almost out....=D We just made it to the next petrol station just before we ran out of gas(That was really really close). We stood their overnight and drove another 800k's during the next day. Today is the 23rd by the way, and we seeked for a good bbq in the evening.

Our home with surfboards.

We drove away from the highway just into the next small village at the very butt of the world. There we only wanted to change the driver and throw something in before going on. BUT (you NEVER would have expected) some Jehowa's Witnesses were coming to us on a deserted small parking space. We discussed the end of the world etc, which was pretty funny but we got also a serious suggestion. They told us to drive another 20k's away from the highway to see a big dam and its lake which should be woth having a glance at. We did that. Was terrific!

We even got a present.
We drove for about 150k's behind this fruit truck so as not to hit kangaroos(the even bigger fellas don't slow down because they couldn't make it anyway so they make sure that they kill them completely and therefore they accelerate instead of breaking)
We were alarmed too. The radio news told us there should be a typhoon coming...
Direction is good, the sea is to the left and the sunset to the right. Allright! =D
Rain, the early signal of the typhoon.
Nobody cared, at least this guy did not.
We get close!
Rainbow beach - the gate to Fraser Island!
It was pouring down and the waves at this undoubtedly beautiful beach were mad! Never before have I seen such strong and continous rain! - It didn't stop until the next morning has broken.
So, we buried our eve-bbq dream and looked for a dry place.
The petrol station of this village got us a small shelter at its veranda and we spent the night watching movies and solving Sudokus - special overnight experience. We did not really care, even though we had no phone reception, no inet connection, no home, nothing but bread and water and a good friend. What counts is that you experience slightly how many different ways of life there are! - We got for once a special "typhoony" one. I'll never forget this eve, and never before and after did I really attempt to solve sudokus. Me, solving sudokus voluntarily, some people might say this is unthinkable! I was good btw...
=D
