Travel update

For once I could resist creating a post without pictures. Its purpose is therefore to give information about my further travels after having graduated on 9th March 2012 at EF school in Auckland.

Until the 13th March, I will stay in this town and watch the spectacular Volvo Ocean Race boats arrive (for more info and beautiful pictures of the mind-blowing harbour, check out this link: http://www.volvooceanrace.com/en/ports/5_Auckland.html). This is one of the many advantages we have in the city of sails.

On 13th, I start my journey through the two Islands of New Zealand with finally arriving back in Auckland in the evening of the 3rd April 2012. It is a long time travelling and I am already thrilled to see all these beautiful parts of NZ. More infos coming later!

Then, it is time to leave NZ and my plane takes me on the 5th April to Sydney where I will have the opportunity to board an A380 and fly to Singapore on the same day.

Somehow I've always wanted to check out this city, don't ask me why. Not only am I interested in the attractions but also in the partner university of my prospective university in Switzerland. I will hopefully also have the chance to have a glance at EF Singapore and say hello to them.

Then it is high time I would go home, so my plane leaves arrives at the 9th April in Frankfurt where I will jump off and get a decent breakfast at my friend's home before getting back to the airport and flying to Switzerland.

There a beautiful informative journey ends and I am back to real life. =D

All the best,

Flo

Piha

Hej there!

This day had something. Together with the Englishman "Ian" I enjoyed hiking swimming and relaxing at the famous Piha beach. We had great fun discovering this beautiful place. Piha itself is known as one of the most dangerous beaches in NZ and despite this, many well-known surfers such as world champion Kelly Slater come here regularly to exercise. In NZ television, there is currently even a tv series which describes the work of the surf rescue club(The video in this link works only for NZ residents but it's worth having a glance at the description):

After all, it is sometimes just worth checking out youtube: =D

Rugby: Blues vs. Crusaders

Hej everybody,

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to watch the first match of the Auckland Blues in the Rugby season 2012. Fortunately, the diligent EF activities coordinator Steven Papps got us the tickets. The match itself gave us a really good impression on how much people are engrossed in rugby here!
The "Blues" features half of the players from the All Black team, so we had the chance to see the world champions playing live in Eden Parc the stadium in which the world championships took place last spring. Have a look!

Hope this blowed your minds! =D

Rangitoto Island

Strange weather this weekend. Never before have I heard such a lound clap of thunder! It sounded as if there was a huge explosion in the centre, at that very moment, I was walking down Queen Street and saw eight of these huge firefighting cars and so on. Was pretty scary and impressive how people reacted. Many pedestrians were looking anxoiusly at the sky. I think 9/11 is still in people's minds.
Anyway, later on that Friday, we had a voluminous thunderstorm, the following picture is taken from TVNZ.

Huge waterspout over the city.(TVNZ)

Anyway, on Friday we had just these crazy big cumulus clouds, so I decided to go to the small volcanic island Rangitoto, which is situated just about 20km offshore, eastern.

The island raise out of the water as the volcano errupted about 600 years ago.

On my way to the crater.

Stunning scenery!

If you didn't like that, something must be wrong with you! =D
